Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
Assistance may be available for your family. The Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) Program offers many support services during pre and post-employment. TANF is also available to non-parents who have custody of eligible children.
We now offer services aimed at specific areas where we can assist you to become more self-sufficient and give assistance while working to overcome a temporary problem. Training for work and other support services are available. Eligibility for TANF also enables you to obtain Child Support Services, Nutritional and Medical Services.
However, you may be eligible for various support services without receiving TANF.
Post-TANF services are also available to lend support while working. These services can include extended Medical Services, childcare assistance, Educational/Job Training vouchers, housing subsidies, and a new transportation program with partial help toward work passes for New Jersey Transit.
