Child Support

What is the Child Support and Paternity Program?

Child Support Program (CSP) provides support for children by:

  • Establishing paternity and administering court ordered genetic paternity testing
  • Locating non-custodial parents
  • Initiating child and medical support complaints
  • Reviewing existing support obligations for possible adjustment

For all Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) applicants, cooperation with child support is the required first step for eligibility. For families that are not applying for or receiving WFNJ TANF benefits but wish to pursue a child support case, our agency can provide location only services for a $6.00 fee.

CSP staff provides a full range of services including location, genetic testing and complaint initiation in local and out of state courts. Collection and enforcement of established orders are referred to the appropriate NJ County or out of state Probation Department.
